Portland – On Saturday morning, the Portland Public Schools (PPS) approved a labor contract with the Portland Association of Teachers.
The agreement has yet to be published online but Oregon Politico has obtained a copy and posted it for the public to examine.
When Oregon Politico asked PPS last week when the board would vote on the tentative agreement, it was said that the vote would likely happen at the next regularly scheduled board meeting. In an earlier interview with Rick Liebman, a spokesman for the PPS labor negotiations, he told Oregon Politico that the public would have an unofficial chance to examine the contract after the union voted on it.
The union vote wasn’t closed until 5pm on Friday and the PPS meeting started at 10:30am on Saturday. That left seventeen and a half hours for the contract to leak to the press and for unofficial examination by the public.
