TURNER- Tea Party activists from around the state gathered in Turner, Oregon Saturday as part of the state’s 912 State Convention hosted by 912 groups from Salem and Lake Oswego.
The convention drew hundreds of people who were there to network with other tea party activists, attend workshops on grassroots activism, and hear speeches from various activists and groups around the country.
The opening of the convention included a speech from Bob Basso, known for his YouTube videos portraying Thomas Payne. Basso’s speech included tips for grassroots groups to better organize and a call for them to end the current health care reforms in Congress. He stressed the need for greater education on the U.S. Constitution and history for both politicians and the general public.
Other topics included campaigning (presented by FreedomWorks), data analysis, Oregon’s current political climate (by Moore Information), and campaign finance (from Independence Caucus).
CORRECTION: Oregon 912, listed as based in Lake Oswego serves the greater Portland area and is not specific to Lake Oswego.

Yes we were there.
But the Lake Oswego reference is a bit off. The Oregon 9/12 project started in Lake Oswego but serves not only the city of Lake Oswego, but the cities of Portland, Gresham, Troutdale, Beaverton, Tigard, Clackmas, Hillsboro. in other words the Greater Portland Metro Area.
It was a fine event, and enjoyable to all. Bob Basso is a very very powerful speaker. 9/12 members from both Salem and the Portland Metro area, as well as many other points in Oregon got together in like minded fellowship!
